My love of rings

Guys I'm an absolute sucker for rings. And this photo up here proves it. I have over 150 rings in my collection and somehow everytime I go window shopping I end up adding more and more into my collection.
I have all kinds of rings. Huge rings that go with my bohemian style. Jeweled rings that I like to wear with my suits. Blinged colourful ones to complement more traditional Indian wear. Chunky rings, delicate rings, thumb rings, toe rings.
Anyone else as crazy as me?

Speaking of jewelry, I love this recent trend of chunky watches with lots of colourful bracelets. I wish I could pull this off! Step 1- own a chunky watch. (Coming soon)

And lastly, with wedding mania settling down and things getting better with my fiance and I, I've started looking at wedding related things again in full swing. How cute are these cake toppers?? I want something like that on my cake for sure!

Funny stuff on the internet

Lately I've found so much stuff on the internet that's hilarious and I think pictures say a thousand words. Enjoy!

This one is dedicated to every doctor that works around me- seriously I can't even read your orders people!

This is dedicated to the wonderful people that loved making racist comments about Miss America earlier this week. Also you people must CLICK HERE to learn how to be a better racist. And CLICK HERE to see what I actually think about you.

I used to blame my fatness on my Asthma meds ALL the time. NEVER AGAIN!!

And this is so brilliant. This is for all of you GOT fans out there! What? You don't know what that is? Game of Thrones, you're welcome love, bless you.

Bridezilla to bride-zombie to bride-broken

I'm not that much of a reader, I wish I was and I honestly don't have ANY time atm. But for people that are all about their bookish nerdiness here's something I found that was really thought provoking!

So I've been a bit off blogging for a bit. I haven't really bothered with it, I haven't had that motivation to go and share something with the world. And it's because all of this wedding stress has really got to me. Last month wedding prep was in full swing but not so much this month.

I've been sad and upset because we've been fighting and arguing lots with so much concerning us and the wedding. Me and my fiance I mean. The wedding is 5 months away and it's already so super stressful between us now.

Did anyone else go through this before their wedding? Please help me, I need all the encouragement I can get right now!!

Without saying anything too personal I can just say that some major exams and wedding planning has really has been driving us nuts! I think when people of two different religions come together there has to be an immense amount of understanding, love and support for one another. I thought we had that, but I feel like traditions, different family beliefs and our elders views are clashing to the point of us falling apart and I'm really heartbroken right now! Especially 'cuz I haven't spoken to him all September :(

Aaaah, anyway I hope ya'll having a restful weekend. I had a wasp sting today that landed me in emergency (so lucky I work there and I'm alive and kicking) 'cuz I'm allergic to the damn things so I'm resting too. God bless xxx

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.

10 things to do everyday to make you happy

Now I'm all for being healthy and I've got a routine of my own going recently, but this is just awful!!! I'm glad LiLo realised that she was NOT looking pretty!
I came across this awesome health blog, you've got to check it out. This girl lives in hawaii, she's lost all this weight by eating well and being active and she's got a great fashion sense! Check out this exerpt from her blog!! :)
http://fit-personality.com/post/59239148161/10-things-to-make-you-happier
  1. Listen to your favorite song - Sing it loudly. Let’s be honest, your voice is a combination of Fergie and Jesus and the world deserves to hear it.
  2. Look around and realize how beautiful life is - I know, I was just a can of creamed corn right there, but seriously, it makes a difference. When you look around and really look at your surroundings, you get a newfound appreciation for life, and it never fails to make me smile.
  3. Realize that people are going to try to bring you down, and don’t let them - You are awesome. You are pretty. And you deserve happiness. Don’t let the people who aren’t chill with that make you even a little upset.
  4. Remind yourself that people love you - Because they do, like I said before, you’re awesome and people love awesome people.
  5. Give someone a hug - Hugs are warm and they make both people feel 90% happier and more than likely 120% more awkward if it’s someone you don’t normally hug. It’s great.
  6. Give a stranger a compliment - And not the kind that’s like, “OMG girl dat necklace is mad s’cute where did you get it girl yo style is FABULOUS”. I mean a genuine compliment about the person. Compliments feel a lot more real when it’s from someone who won’t gain anything by saying it to you.
  7. Do something active - Gee I’m sure we all didn’t see that one coming. I’ve said it 1,00 times on this blog and I’ll say it again…. Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy, and happy people just don’t shoot their husbands…. They just don’t.
  8. Say yes to something you normally wouldn’t - If you tend to feel “too tired” or “too stressed” to do something that could potentially be fun, just say yes to it and see what happens. It could be amazing, it could be awful and then you have a funny story. Either way you win something.
  9. Help someone without expecting anything in return - This could be as small of a gesture as holding a door open for someone with their hands full. I personally like buying the coffee for the person in line behind me at Starbucks. Whatever it is, help someone without expectation, and you’ll be surprised what happens.
  10. Tell the people you love that you love them - This is probably the hardest thing for me, strangely. I am not an emotional person and expressing my feelings is borderline painful for me. But when you tell people you love them and you get an “I love you” in return, it makes you feel all warm. Kind of like when you pee.

Summer favourites

1. Favorite Nail Polish trend?
Neon nails! They are just so awesome!
2. What is your must-have lip color this summer?
Any nude lippie by Mac has me. It's been too hot this summer for anything too jarring.
3. Show us your favorite summer dress!
Aztec printed, with delicate little cuts. It's just so sexy!
4. What’s your favorite flower?
Duh. Tulips.
5. Favorite summer accessory?
Chunky neck pieces, again neon's really in with these.
6. What summer trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, Fashion or both!)
There's just SO MANY!! Aztec print, neons, bling bling, peplum, cut out dresses, geometric shapes, tights, asymmetrical skirts, sheer tops, chevron!!!
7. Favorite Summer Candle?
I think vanilla scents are the best for the summer.
8. Favorite body spray/perfume for summer?
I really like Love etc by Body Shop. My fiance gave this to me last summer and its so nice and fruity/floral.

The "Would you rather" tag :)

Found this beauty tag on Classy Girls With Curls blog and decided to do it :) I tag all of my followers to do this!

1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
Palettes and eyeshadows!! Those are *expensive* and what's life without all that colour!!

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
CHOP IT ALL OFF! I know most of you reading this will shriek and grab your long ponytails but I really wanna donate my hair one day. Anything I can do for anyone suffering from Cancer will just be such a reward for me.

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
Coral! It goes well with my honey skin tone.

4. If you had £1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Clothes! Cuz shoes are classified in this case under clothes hahahaha!

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
This is weird, ummm, lipstick as eyeliner? Cuz no way would I pull off black lips!

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
MAC. It's like the holy shrine of make up.

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
One lip colour, all I need is a matte nude and I can make it go with anything!

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
Summer clothes in winter, 'cuz I do that anyway.

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
Bright nails!! I love colour!!

10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
Lip product, 'cuz I love all my eye products too much!

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
Messy bun, 'cuz that way I'll get good at it! Plus its ridiculously hot here on my end of the globe.

12. Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
Never use lipgloss, it gets all sticky and flaky anyway. Ugh. I LOVE doing my nails however crap I'm at it!

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
Sharpie them in everyday, 'cuz my future mum in law just recently told me I have nice eyebrows :)

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
Nail polish. Even though I love doing my nails I think I'd miss the makeup more.

Aztec inspiration!

So a friend of mine has been missing his hometown in California and now that he's back for a little summer break I'm getting updates via Whatsapp and this particular picture of his brother inspired my for my latest nail art!
I know you all just see the bottle of alcohol!!! But on the right you can check out his aztec inspired t-shirt! And hence my nails now, look something similar(ish-ly) like this-->
Now I have the worst dexterity, but these look semi decent 'cuz I used lots of different colours and a sharpie lol. I hear you nail experts gasping in shock but this is the only way us mere mortals can rock this look! Enjoy and I hope it inspires you all xxx

Forever 21- New York!

So my betrothed and my future in laws are back and I felt so special cuz I absolutely got showered with gifts. I love them all and I really wanted to share a few special things I got!

Of course I had to nudge my boyfriend in the right direction with huge *hints* I threw his way, but he got me some great stuff! I have no idea why this photo is upside down, but isn't this mint absolutely beautiful!! I love the gold chain strap with it!
I love this nude bag with gold accents. It's also forever 21 and it goes with everything!
I'm so sorry for all the photos facing weird ways! I love any jewelry with 'love' on it and this necklace adds perfectly to my collection. I also love the Harry Potter scar necklace and at $1.80 its a steal! I love that my boyfriend knows me so well and I'm like a proud girlfriend 'cuz I've taught him well as to how to to find a bargain!! Lol :)
Can't wait to wear these earrings, with LO on one ear and VE on the other, they again add to my love collection perfectly!
Absolute steal! Sunglasses necklace for $1.80!!
This Coach crossbody bag was a gift from my future father in law. I'm in love with it! For anyone looking to invest in it (it retails for $148) be wary of the ones that come in the black or brown colour! I've read plenty of reviews of how it fades in just a month or so of use.
My future mum in law got me this. I love everything VS and I absolutely love the angel wings zip detail on this cosmetic bag. i think this retails for about USD $18?
Urgh! No idea about the photo facing the wrong way, anyway this was from my brother in law. I'm excited to use the bath and body works lotion. The St Ives apricot scrub is something I've used for years and I absolutely love!
This mint Fossil bag is a gift from his aunt in California. It was marked down from $176 to $127!! Can't wait to use it :)
His aunt in Texas sent me this, I love my perfumes! I've never tried anything from Oscar de la Renta so I'm looking forward to this!!
Primer is such an important part of your make up! I'll show you the difference with eyeshadow application with and without this Mac vibrancy eye primer. This was something I asked my man to get me. It's pricy for $30 a bottle, but it does last you months and I only apply it for evening wear.
I go mental when I lose little pencil leads from my pencils so this Sharpie liquid pencil is a lifesaver for me. Absolutely genius idea Sharpie!! It's also safe to have young children use, I know so many little kids that just eat that sharp pencil lead!!
This nude crossover from Forever 21 is on my wishlist. It's got this beautiful pink outline and its only $20! I saw this the other day and swooned, till I saw all the purses I'd got and then fainted! Hahaha :) So all in all, this was a good sunday. I'm just gonna lie here in my purses till you guys check it all out. xxx

/ˈpərˌfyo͞om/

I love my perfumes! I've got at least 15 different ones, you know, different one's for different occasions. But these are my standard three at the moment.

1. Victoria Secret Gorgeous- I use this for everyday wear. It's just a body spray but the fragrance lingers for so long I absolutely love it. I feel okay wearing this at the hospital too- a stronger perfume wouldn't be appropriate to wear when you're working with patients I think. So this works for me at work, or the gym or whatever.

2. Marks & Spencers In Bloom- I LOVE lemon meringue tarts and when I wear this, that is exactly what I smell like. I wear this to the movies, running errands or when picking up groceries. The base notes for this one are lime blossom and bergamot.

3. Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison- Although a bit pricey, I've stuck with CD's Poison line since 2000. A good 13 years later this is still my signature perfume, for date night or a posh evening out. It really reflects my personality and works great for evening wear 'cuz its really strong and lasts forEVER! Poison, Hypnotic Poison, Pure Poison, Midnight poison- I've owned them all and I love the enticing fragrance of all of them!
I <3 CD and this is exactly what it makes me feel like!!

I go overboard yet again!

All my friends always say that I paint my nails a nice colour but then I mess it all up by adding stickers, nail art or accents. You decide!!

They said my green/bluey nails looked perfect before I blotched it up with the pink! Have I gone overboard yet again???

Love letters

♥ Ice cream and unicorns ♥

I found an old picture of my nails that I'd done last year. I call them "Love Letters" :) There's plenty of tutorials for this on the web and they're so easy to do!

Another thing that's been occupying my mind is engagement rings ('cuz I'm getting one soon!) and all I do pretty much is browse them on Pinterest. I've found one that's just breathtaking! Its a 'rose diamond'!

Stacking rings

♥ Ice cream and unicorns ♥

I absolutely love stacking rings and I found these really cool copper coloured ones in a sale! (Sorry about my chipped nails)

Here's some I saw on pinterest. They'd look pretty kick ass stacked up!

On another note, how funny is this!! Vajazzle!!! Hahahaha!

Tom Yum Diet Chicken

So here's a really easy chicken recipe from my dinner  tonight. Its zero oil, and cooks in 5 minutes in the microwave.

Preparing time 5 minutes. Cooking time 5 minutes. Serves one.

Ingredients
1. 100 grams boneless chicken breast diced
2. 1 onion, chopped
3. 1 tomato, chopped
4. 1 bell pepper, remove the seeds and chop
5. 4 button mushrooms, chopped
6. 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
7. 1 tablespoon Tom Yum paste
8. 1 tablespoon coconut cream
9. 2 tablespoons of passata
10. Coriander with stem, pulled apart and torn. (Now take in that beautiful smell!)

1. In a microwavable bowl add the diced chicken. Microwave for 1 minute.
2. Remove, stir and add all the vegetables. Microwave for 2 minutes, remove and stir.
3. Add the ginger garlic paste, Tom Yum paste, Coconut cream and passata. Microwave for 2 minutes, remove and stir.
4. Garnish with coriander.

Notes
- You can add any brand ginger garlic paste.
- Tom Yum paste is a really delicious Thai paste that you can buy at any Asian grocery store and they're even available at Walmart (for the American's), Tesco's (for you Brits) and well in Asia kinda just everywhere.
- Kara coconut cream is easily available in Singapore (think Mustafa!) but you can use any coconut milk/cream/powder.
- I only add the Passata (that I got from Waitrose but for all of you non England residents any passata will do) to give a bit of gravy incase you want to eat this with rice. Even no passata will do!

Enjoy!

Leopard nails!

I did my nails today in the hot leopard spot trend that's been going around. I love them! =)

And now, it's off to the gym for me!!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

I hate exercise!

My mum just sent me this in an email! Perfectly describes my tuesday =)

Movie night outfit!

I went to see the new Superman flick tonight, oh my gosh what a cutie! He had the whole Wolverine thing going on initially, with his hot beard and by the end of the movie I was drooling over his bulging biceps and ripped abs through his suit! Hahaha!

But today was the first time I wore this necklace (that I'd got for free for shopping for a certain amount at a pharmacy??! Sat whaat!). I paired it with an oversized Accessorize-esq bag and layered it with this cotton red shirt which I wore with khaki's.

Now I think it would've looked better like this. Don't you agree? :)

Ps: Definitely recommend the movie though! Man of Steel was very different from any other Superman movie I've seen with how much detail it went into with Kal-el's life and his history with Krypton. There was no mention on Kryptonite, no Lex Luthor and a little less action for my liking, but a good movie nonetheless!

New nails!

I've got a new nail colour on today! Just a baby pink on the bottom with a darker pink crack on the top. I'm telling you crack is the best way to spice up your nails when you can't be bothered to do something fancy with them.

Pre engagement photos

Roka picture! :)

I told you all about my roka ceremony in my last post (you can read about it by clicking here) but I forgot to show you pictures! Here's some now!

I was in love with my dress, a traditional anarkali. I loved all my jewelry, loved the fabulous location and totally loved my awesome dad for organizing all of it. Really missed my mum 'cuz she couldn't make it but here's to a lot of celebrating with her to make up for it! :)

One month anniversary

Roses <3

Btw- I'm a silly nut.

I recently had my roka ceremony, well it was exactly a month ago on the 15th of May, 2013. This was a traditionally punjabi ceremony we had at the Hyatt, and it was reaaally beau.tee.ful!

For those of you not familiar with "punjabi's" or the roka ceremony ('cuz I had no idea what it was!) it's basically like the first time the soon to be bride and groom's family meets each other. It's the first official wedding event and its a step before the engagement. It's kind of like a betrothal.

I had this ceremony 'cuz my soon to be fiance is ethnically an Indian punjabi. Coming back to why I'm a silly nut, I had the most beautiful roses delivered right to my doorstep today.

I get a card with it, so I know they're from him and I automatically assume he's sent them to apologise 'cuz we had a bit of a tiff the day before (Did I mention he's in New York and I'm all the way on the other side of the globe so we only talk for 5 minutes on the phone twice a day). The distance was really getting to us I suppose. And oh he'd left to fly off to New York the night of the roka and his family followed soon after.

So anyway, I ring him my evening time, his morning time and I go-

Me: Can't I get regular you're a wonderful person flowers, as opposed to I'm sorry flowers all the time?
Him: Wait, huh. They're not I'm sorry flowers. I sent them 'cuz it's the 15th.
Me: What's so special about the 15th?

Now I really want to go back in time and smack myself.

Him: Babe, it's the 15th. Our roka was exactly a month ago? Happy anniversary.
Me: *mentally kicking myself*

So much for the woman's the sappy romantic one. Lol!

Guess who's back!

Oh dear...

I'm back again, after aaages of stalking other peoples blogs (seriously, I feel like I know them personally!) and I've finally given in again to trying to maintain an online diary/blog about my life and things that interest me.

I tried to whole write-a-daily-diary as well in the late 90's. The next decade was spent vlogging/blogging. Didn't really work out. So I hope this time, it turns out better!

Especially because I've got some really exciting upcoming events in my life and I want to have a place to come back to in 10 years and reflect! It'll definitely be handy when I get all nostalgic!
